Last night I got to see Public Enemy for the theatre's employee showing. That movie was absolutely fucking incredible. Now I've always been a fan of Depp, but this made me fall completely in love with him. His character as John Dillinger was wonderful. Actually, everyone's characters were well played out. The storyline was catching and absorbing; the cinematography was delightfully artistic; the soundtrack was perfect; and the dialogue was fantastic.
I did catch one flaw - when Depp gets into the elevator at the police station toward the end of the movie, you can see the character at the right look directly into the camera for a few seconds. Don't ask me how or why, but I've always been particularly good at catching things like that. One of my favorites is from the movie The Descent. I actually like this movie very much, by the way. Anyways, when the characters are in the cave and discover a primitive wall painting, at the bottom you see what looks to be like rhinos. The movie took place in West Virginia.
Anyways, other movies I saw recently were: The Hangover, Transformers 2, Up, and Land of the Lost.
The Hangover: Fun and hilarious. I've actually seen this movie four times already. The character casting was great. Each actor plays their character so well and it really makes the majority of the movie. Fun fact: The director of this movie won awards for his first documentary while at NYU. Guess what is was! G.G. Allin's Hated.
Up: Doesn't quite top Wall-E, but still an awesome movie. Like a typical Disney movie, it gets incredibly depressing, but the light humor and adventurous plot make up for it. I really enjoyed this one.
Land of the Lost was cute. I wasn't familiar with the original show, but the movie was well done in the fact that it didn't try to be serious. I think it deserves a bit more credit than people generally give it.
Transformers: ROTF (Rolling on the Floor). Yeah, it was that bad. Michael Bay lowers cinema standards once again with this atrociously retarded sequel. You have ghetto robots, a painfully absent minded "pretty girl", lots of explosions, and Shai La-Douche. All this adds up to a wonderfully mind-numbing experience sure to please the intellectually stunted.

EDIT:
Almost forgot to include Drag Me to Hell. I guess you can say I saved the best for last because this movie was brilliant. Let's just say Raimi is the man. He incorporated a perfect mix of humor, suspense, and gore. Half of the time you aren't sure whether to laugh or scream and sometimes the two responses switch.
It starts off with a flashback of about 20 or so years where we are first introduced to the "curse" that plagues the main character later on. The mood is anxious, hurried, and serious as the characters desperately seek help for their plagued little boy. The Santeria woman brings them inside and we first see the effects of the curse as demonic silhouettes in the windows. These shadows are purposely done in a half-assed manner so that the audience is quickly thrown from the serious, concerned mindset to more of a "what the fuck is Raimi up to now?" state of mind.
This is the overall mood of the movie. It's hilarious, but creepy as all hell. All in all, if you didn't thoroughly enjoy this movie you either: a) took it WAY too seriously, b) are too much of an elitist bastard, or c) are in need of intensive psychiatric care because evidently there is something seriously wrong with you.

That's all for now. Stay tuned for more movie reviews! There's a bunch of good ones coming out within the next few months. I've actually been thinking of starting a blog for this.
Later people.
